Teaching

Visual Arts

Studies in the general syllabus of visual arts support the student’s creativity, self-knowledge, and personal expression through the means of visual art. The studies develop skills in visual observation, thinking, and expression, and provide broad exposure to visual arts and visual culture. Teaching is based on the student’s own experiences and encourages experimenting, discovering insights, and finding joy in making. The studies create a foundation for a personal relationship with art and for lifelong engagement with visual arts.

Crafts

Studies in the general syllabus of crafts offer the joy of making, creativity, and new discoveries. The studies provide broad exposure to crafts, design, and technology, and include practicing the safe use of different materials, techniques, and tools. The student is encouraged to explore, experiment, and express themselves through hands-on making. At the same time, problem-solving skills, responsible thinking, and appreciation of one’s own and others’ work are strengthened. The studies create a foundation for a lifelong crafts hobby.
