Participation and Cancellation

Participation and Cancellation

Course implementation

Courses are open to everyone, and places are allocated in the order of registration.

A course will only take place if there are enough participants. The minimum number of participants per course is:

  • In Raahe: 10 participants
  • In Vihanti, Pyhäjoki and rural areas: 7 participants

Courses begin as scheduled in the study programme, and no separate notification is sent when a course starts. If a course is cancelled, participants will be informed.

Participants are expected to commit to attending the course for its full duration. Unnecessary absences and discontinuation should be avoided, as the number of participants also affects the learning opportunities of others in the group.

Cancelling a course place

Registration for courses is binding. If you are unable to attend or wish to discontinue your participation, please cancel your place in time either in the online registration system or by contacting the institute office.

Failure to pay the invoice or notifying the teacher is not considered a valid cancellation. A cancellation must be made so that the place can be offered to a person on the waiting list.

If you do not attend the first session and have not informed the institute of your absence, your place may be given to a participant on the waiting list.

Sports and dance courses

In sports and dance courses, participants can usually assess during the first sessions whether the activity suits them. The following cancellation terms apply:

  • Cancellation no later than five (5) days before the course begins: € 0
  • First session: you may attend once without a cancellation fee if you cancel immediately after the first session
  • Cancellation after the second session: € 12 cancellation fee
  • Cancellation after the third session: full course fee will be charged

Other courses

For other courses, the following cancellation terms apply:

  • Cancellation no later than five (5) days before the course begins: € 0
  • Cancellation after the first session: € 12 cancellation fee
  • Cancellation after the second session: full course fee will be charged

Purchases and arrangements are often made based on the number of registered participants. Late cancellations therefore directly affect the implementation and costs of the course.

Special situations

If there are fewer than five (5) days before the start of a course and the number of participants falls below the minimum required, the full course fee may be charged if a place is cancelled.
This practice helps ensure that courses can be carried out and ensures equal treatment of all participants.

If a course is cancelled

If a course is cancelled by the institute, all registered participants will be informed personally.

Any course fees already paid will be refunded or credited as agreed.
