Travel reimbursements for hourly-paid teachers are primarily determined in accordance with the currently valid OVTES agreement, subject to the following clarifications.

Travel expense claims must be submitted at intervals of no more than two months. Claims for an entire semester cannot be submitted at once.

As of 1 January 2026, the mileage allowance is €0.55 per kilometre.

Eligibility for Travel Reimbursement

Hourly-paid teachers are entitled to reimbursement for travel between their home or a workplace located outside the municipality and the institute’s teaching location, provided that the one-way distance exceeds 6 kilometres. Reimbursement is also paid for the return journey on the same basis.

Completing a Travel Expense Claim

The travel expense claim must indicate the total distance travelled, less the deductible portion of 6 kilometres per direction (12 kilometres in total for a round trip).

Example:

If the total round-trip distance is 42 kilometres, the reimbursable distance is 30 kilometres (42 km – 12 km deductible).
