At Raahe-opisto, personal data is processed in order to provide services. Personal data is processed, for example:

• when registering for courses
• in matters related to studying and the organisation of teaching
• when handling customer feedback
• in communication and customer service

The legal basis for processing personal data is the provision of services, a statutory obligation, or the user’s consent, depending on the situation.

Processing of Personal Data on the Website

On the Raahe-opisto website (raaheopisto.fi), personal data is mainly processed in connection with handling enquiries and feedback. 

Through contact forms, the following data may be collected: name and contact details and the content of the message and feedback. Providing personal data is voluntary. Data submitted through feedback form is processed confidentially and is used for handling feedback and for contacting the sender.

The website also publishes the names and contact details of Raahe-opisto staff and, where necessary, the contact details of cooperation partners. This information is published to facilitate external communication and customer service.

Cookies are used on the website to support its operation and to analyse its use.

Processing of Personal Data in the Registration System

Raahe-opisto processes students’ personal data for the organisation of teaching, issuing certificates and recording study achievements, managing course fees, and maintaining the student register.

Student data is stored in the Hellewi registration system managed by Raahe-opisto. More information is available in the Hellewi system privacy notice (in Finnish). 

If a student gives consent to receive communications, Raahe-opisto will send information only about the institute’s own activities.

Disclosure and Retention of Data

Raahe-opisto does not disclose personal data to third parties without a lawful basis. Personal data is protected with appropriate technical and organisational measures, and is only processed by authorised personnel.

The retention of personal data follows the retention periods defined in the City of Raahe’s information management plan.
